Ema and Jake purchased their first home and were very excited about and wanted to make some home improvements. They had compiled a list of the things they wanted to accomplish with a $50K budget. After looking over the home improvements they wanted to have done, their estimate was at $85K.
I found that one of their biggest expenses was the kitchen cabinets and granite they were going to purchase from a big box store. After calling my cabinet distributor, we were able to save them $9K and offered them a better product.
In addition to the cabinets, I helped them find a high-grade carpet that they fell in love with at the same store. I called my carpet distributor in Dalton, GA and they had the same grade carpet at a price 30% lower than what they had found it for. After revisiting the estimate, we were at $65k. Obviously they were still over budget however they prioritized the scope of work and they will have us do 70% of the work now and continue with the rest next fall.
